ABSTRACT: We examined temporal relationships for aquatic macroinvertebrate assemblages in the White River, Indiana. Long-term data (1979-2015) were collected by the Muncie Sanitary District Bureau of Water Quality. Our hypothesis was that assemblages vary predictably during this period when human impacts to the river decreased. We used family level taxonomy in ordinations to examine temporal variation. We identified a strong, gradual temporal pattern for assemblage variation. In addition we discuss changes in dominant taxa over time that could occur as a response to decreased human impacts.
