ABSTRACT: The Manitowish River and Turtle-Flambeau Flowage Lake Sturgeon population has undergone restoration efforts since 2001. With increasing recruitment rates and adult densities, understanding Lake Sturgeon foraging behavior is imperative for identifying competition with other species. Due to population restoration efforts, sacrificing individuals for diet analysis is not a feasible option. Thus, we attempted to determine diet contents using gastric lavage. While more research is needed to test the efficacy of gastric lavage on Lake Sturgeon, we were able to characterize primary diet contents of Lake Sturgeon in the Turtle Flambeau Flowage and Manitowish River, allowing us to better understand foraging behavior and potential overlap with other species of management concern.
